Why governments need 5 year tenure! Can’t it be reduced to 2.5 year?

As I sit and type these thoughts for which I have been searching for a more realistic reason & answer….for which unfortunately I couldn't find any sensible answers!

Why this question came was because of

"SOME OF MAJOR SCAMS" which have been exposed in the year 2010 & 2011

  • 3G Scam
  • Mining Scam in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh & Goa
  • Common wealth games

Inability of State & Central Governments to complete Infrastructure Projects in cities such as "Namma Metro in Bangalore", "Bomb explosions across various cities", Railway Accidents, Poor Drainage facilities, Flooded roads during heavy rainfall!!!!!

Failure of Central governments to drive effective policy implementations like JNNURM, NREGA & RTE……

Upon retrospection I could see that typical life cycle of a Government would be as below:

What does government do during 1st/2nd/3rd & 4th / 5th year when the Political parties come to power?

1st Year: Gone are the days when a single party would get majority! Ruling party will spend its initial 1 year in distributing the ministry & portfolios to the persons.

2nd Year : 1 year will go in identifying areas in which policies & will try to dig into the previous governments loop holes and nailing the opposition parties under charges!!

3rd & 4th Year : Implementation of policies will start & also the Scam will start ……people in power will make money & unaccounted wealth

5th Year: This year is the year of Voters!!!! Ruling party starts to attract voters ….Opposition party wakes up and starts unearthing the scams!!!!

So in the above life cycle we see that only 2 to 3 years are when the Governments functions & will try to deliver some benefits to common man & also make money!!! For this reason I believe the 5 Year tenure is too long for any government!

Instead we should bring regulations to cut short the life of Government to 2.5 years…..and after every 2.5 years let the people of India Vote again and let "US WE THE COMMON PEOPLE OF INDIA THE TORCH BEARERS OF WORLD LARGEST DEMOCRACY DECIDE IF THE CURRENT RULING PARTY IS CAPABLE OR NOT"

Commonly asked questions?

Now some economist or people interested in financial aspects would ask questions like Election in every 2.5 years would be expensive and costly for Government?

My answer is compare the below with expense in conducting elections

  1. Amount of money made in these Scams and Black money being made by corrupted people when governments are in power
  2. Amount of unaccounted money which every political party spends during election & for election campaign
  3. Amount of money spent by ruling party in order to gain majority for coming to power, like alliance with other regional parties!

So if you compare these and many other hidden expenses I see that election is more costly for Political parties but not for Government! After all taxpayers would not mind in spending money for elections with a dream of getting good governance & better infrastructure!

I would look forward for questions from my friends & colleagues.....

Kannada as a Spoken Language- Pragmatic thought for Improvement

I was reading a book written by our Taralabalu Swamiji "Ontegalla Madhuveyalli Kathegala Sangitha" ( this could be understood by only Kanglish Kannadigas) , In one of the articles he was sharing his experiences about Kannadigas abroad & how Kannada has been still existing in other states & countries
As I was reading this book and my eyes saw below lines from the poem written by Rashtrakavi Kuvempu on the side board of Vajra bus (Volvo)

ಎಲ್ಲಾದರು ಇರು   ಎಂತಾದರು ಇರು  ಎಂದೆಂದಿಗು  ನೀ  ಕನ್ನಡವಾಗಿರು

I felt that growth of Kannada language is not only by Literature & Poem's………. but Growth of Kannada Language is only possible by constantly exploring means and ways by which we can make Kannada popular as a spoken language among today's Youth & Urban Population of Developing Karnataka!!!! Or else it would lose its edge over a period of time.
When I thought what could be those ways and means by which we could make this popular among today's generation, few questions came to my mind for which probably I found answer for one of them but others I would have to explore further in the world of "Google" which also supports search in Kannada!
1.       Why can't people have Kannada has a language in their mobile and send Kannada SMS for their regular communication?

·         Upon exploring my mobile's settings I could see that there was an option for setting "KANNADA" as a default language and also I was really amazed to see that my mobile keypad supported the typing of Kannada letters & Kannada SMS!!!!!! Then I really appreciated the thought of this Mobile company which had thought about this Language requirements also and had implemented them in the mobile! This mobile company is not an India based but still if it can think about our languages then why can't we Kannadigas?????? Immediately I sent the SMS to my friends in Kannada !
·         While I was struggling to type SMS in Kannada I realized how far I was from Kannada's Grammar & it took some time to type in SMS….but really worth the effort

·         Further an idea for Government to make this Kannada SMS popular is by pushing the service providers like Airtel, BSNL & Vodafone……with a lesser charges for SMS if communicated via Kannada Language!!

 2. Why can't Software Code be written in Kannada by Kannadiga Software engineers? If we look at countries like Germany, Japan…….. Who have developed software's in their own languages by writing code in German & Japanese Language, then why can't we develop software's and make the software solution work across Globe?

3. Why can't we have Computer Keyboards with option of typing Kannada letters?
- There are already Computer Keyboards with Kannada letters!!!!

4. Why can't we read one of the engineering subjects in Kannada in every semester? As I see in Germany, Japan that complete engineering studies could be done in their Native languages

The intent of these questions was if we are able to find suitable & pragmatic answers for the above questions, also every Kannadiga Software engineer and Government is able to implement them in meaningful manner.
The Spoken Language of Kannada will improve and will find new ways by which Kannada will progressively grow & cross boundaries of Karnataka!!!!!

At last but not least the above thoughts are also relevant for other Indian Languages ( Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya........)

If you find answers to the above unanswered questions feel to write to me purushothamb@gmail.com
